His Commission

This journal focuses on the grand mission to make disciples. We look at the teaching and modeling of Jesus as he trained his first disciples. We will learn basic skills to disciple others, including keys to relational depth, how to share the word, and keys to disciple-making. Life skill emphasis in this journal: The Appointment with God (AWG) and relational skills in disciple-making.

His Commission

In His Commission (Journal 6 and final journal of the Challenge Series) we explore the mission Jesus gave His disciples. Their task was to take what they had come to believe and expose, explain, and expand it into every place and generation. This mission became a worldwide movement rooted in the culture of Jesus’ Kingdom.

Jesus’ commission was given to a small group of politically and socially insignificant men and women. Christian history testifies to the challenge of keeping both the message and Jesus’ methods clear. The gospel record makes it evident that discipling faithful men was Jesus’ method—focusing primarily on the lives of a few men, a model He left for us to emulate.

In His Commission, we examine how Jesus taught and modeled discipleship with His first followers. This journal helps us develop foundational skills for coming alongside and discipling others. As we progress, we catch a vision of how we are part of a godly legacy of men who make disciples. Jesus has always called ordinary men who follow Him to take others with them. It is that simple—and that profound.

The spiritual skills strengthened in this journal go beyond an Appointment with God (AWG) and include How to ask good questions, and  How to Share The Word and our Life Message.
